This project will rewsult in the placement of fish screens a t the Hilliard and Hovarka diversions which take water from the East FRork of Bear Creek.

The project objective is to reduce loss of fish from the river into the diversion canals. Most irrigation diversion structure do not take aquatic wildlife into account. Often, during irrigation season, large numbers of fish, especially juveniles can by caught in the diversion flow and sent into the canals. Mortality results when the flow is shut off and the water leaves the canal.

Installing fish screensw at the two locations will reduce mortality rates and loss of fish from this important BCT population and increase population stability and persistence.

Objectives:
  • Design and construt two fish screens for the Hilliard and the Hovark diversion sites.
Partners:
  • U.S. Forest Service
  • Trout Unlimited
  • Utah Division of Wildlife Resources
