This project’s objectives are related to improving our understanding of coastal cutthroat trout (CCT) distribution, life history strategies, abundance, and habitat needs and assessment within the Alaskan portion of their range. As such, the project is consistent with several aspects of the National Fish Habitat Action Plan (NFHAP), including collaborating with partner agencies and groups for assessing and classifying CCT habitats and providing easy access to all information by making it available via the web or through database portals. The project includes a coordinated and comprehensive effort with near-term goals of integrating all available CCT information across their range and long-term goals supporting protection of habitats and a USFWS range-wide conservation plan. Each of these functions and goals are consistent with the NFHAP mission, goals, and objectives.

Objectives:
  • Improve understanding of CCT distribution, life history strategies, abundance and habitat needs and status in SE AK.
  • Work with CCT Conservation Team to develop protection strategies for populations and habitats
Partners:
  • Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission
  • US. Fish and Wildlife Service
Measures:
  • # of populations identified
