Ahtanum Creek is a strong hold for bull trout, Westslope cutthroat and steelhead in the Yakima Basin. This watershed hold some of the best habitat in the system. It is important to provide passage to both adults and juvenile to promote recovery and the health of the species.
This project will address removing the remaining known man-made barrier in Ahtanum Creek and stabilization of in-stream habitat, to allow access to fish spawing habitat in 17 miles of Ahtanum Creek.
Objectives:
- The objective of the project is to remove the final barrier and provide both juvenile and adult passage to 17 miles of up-stream habitat. Additionally, this project will restore the natural function of the creek.
